Enjoying The Sun And Sand At Paignton

A lovely little resort town along the coast of Devon is the town of Paignton. Paignton belongs to the section of coastline that is known as the English Riviera though it was first a fishing village. The town did not change or have the population grow until the 1800s when a new harbor was built and the town could be accessed by railway. Many people enjoy the fine Victorian architecture that can be viewed in the historic section of town. The top tourist spot is the Paignton pier which is described as a pleasure pier. Towards the seaward end there is a grand pavilion which holds dancing, several music halls, singing and recitals. This pavilion was the first place to perform the Gilbert and Sullivan operetta HMS Pinafore. This pier did not always contain arcades and such as it was once purchased and converted to a dock used by the Pier and Steamship Company. However the entire pier was renovated and restored in 1980.A historic movie house it he Torbay Picture House which was a favorite of Agatha Christie. This is the oldest built purpose cinema found in Europe and because it is a listed Grade II

Obtaining a Cello and Bow

1. Use a reputable string instrument dealer in your area. Check with a music school or with a local cellist or violinist who can recommend a dealer.2. While I suggest buying a cello, because it inspires a greater commitment on your part, realize that dealers also rent cellos for about $50.00 a month.3. Get the right size for you. Cellos for small children are available in a ¼ size. They are also available in half, three quarter and 4/4 sizes (the last, for adults.)4. The age, national origin and reputation of the maker strongly affects the price. Cellos cost anywhere from about $500.00 to six million. If you cannot afford a fancy name, do not worry. Choose by the cello’s sound and condition.5. Do nots: Do not buy over the internet. You cannot see or hear the cello, and will have difficulty returning it if necessary. Do not buy a plywood instrument. The body should be made of maple for the back and ribs and spruce for the front. Do not buy a brand new instrument, unless you are sure that the wood has been properly aged.6. The front of the body should be arched in

Music – Practice And Self-Discipline

May I count the times you and I have heard “Practice makes perfect”? It’s stressed so often how practice is vital in learning and improving your musical skills on any instrument including the guitar. But how many days out of the week do you actually feel like practicing? Maybe a couple, maybe every day, maybe even only once a month. So how do you make yourself more prone to practice more often? You decide to discipline yourself to.Now when you hear the word “discipline” I’m not talking about a belt to the ass. I’m talking about self-discipline.Self-discipline is the willing mechanism to make yourself improve on whatever it is you are doing. It plays a vital part in your musicianship, and if you are real about wanting to be a good musician, this is the heart and soul of your way to be one. It is the process of making the habit and second nature actions to get you where you want to go. In the case of learning to play the guitar, it is not just about motivation and passion. Although those are very important aspects of practice and improvement, they are completely useless and non-existant
